Lotus’s Malaysia has kicked off the 2025 Lunar New Year celebrations with an impressive and record-breaking event at its Kepong outlet. The centerpiece of the festivities was the creation of a 1,211-meter-long yee sang, a colorful dish traditionally enjoyed during the Lunar New Year. This massive culinary feat, shaped like a snake to symbolize wisdom and renewal, has been recognized by the Malaysian Book of Records as the longest yee sang in the country.
The yee sang, which measured 60 cm in width and weighed over 6,200 kilograms, consisted of 11 types of mixed vegetables and fruits. Its preparation involved the collaborative effort of 10 chefs and 200 volunteers. These volunteers represented various organizations, including Lotus’s Malaysia, Kechara Soup Kitchen, Nestlé Malaysia, Mondelez Malaysia, F&N Beverages, Coca-Cola Malaysia, Etika Group, and Danone Specialized Nutrition Malaysia. The dish was displayed on more than 650 tables joined together, showcasing a vibrant spectacle of colors and community spirit.
The event also featured traditional lion dances, character appearances from popular mascots, and interactive brand sampling booths. Among the attendees were 200 underprivileged children from local charities and families supported by organizations such as Tender Touch Pediatric Rehab and Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum Malaysia. These children were treated to an engaging playdate with Kung Fu Panda’s Po and received goodie bags worth RM135 each, courtesy of Lotus’s and its brand partners.
Lotus’s Malaysia’s Lunar New Year campaign, titled “Semuanya Ongsem – Lotus’s Great Prices, Great Fortune and Prosperity,” aims to unite communities and provide customers with festive deals and experiences. Running from late December 2024 through Chap Goh Mei on February 12, 2025, the campaign features discounts of up to 50% on 1,000 festive products across all Lotus’s outlets. These include fresh seafood, festive gift sets, and pre-packed steamboat combos available at selected locations.
The campaign also offers a chance for My Lotus’s members to win prizes totaling RM888,000 in cash and vouchers. Customers who spend a minimum of RM88 and upload their receipts through the Lotus’s Malaysia app can enter weekly and grand prize draws. The rewards include weekly prizes worth RM1,880 and grand prizes worth RM16,800.
To further engage shoppers, Lotus’s Malaysia has organized various in-store activities, including calligraphy stations, DIY rattle drum toys, and a Lucky Human Claw Machine. Visitors can also meet popular MY FM radio DJs and participate in Kung Fu Panda-themed games and activities at selected outlets.
In addition to the celebrations at its Kepong outlet, Lotus’s Malaysia collaborated with Kechara Soup Kitchen to distribute 591 kilograms of freshly prepared yee sang to five welfare centers in the Klang Valley.
