Tune Protect Group Berhad has introduced a new benefit for its AirAsia Travel Insurance customers, aimed at enhancing the travel experience during flight delays. The newly launched Delay Lounge Pass offers access to over 1,500 airport lounges worldwide for those whose flights are delayed by two hours or more. This perk is available exclusively for customers who purchase or opt into one of the AirAsia Travel Insurance plans, including the Value Pack, Premium Flex, and AirAsia Plus, for flights departing from or arriving in Malaysia and Thailand.

The Delay Lounge Pass provides a range of services to help travelers make the most of their waiting time during flight delays. Lounge facilities typically include high-speed Wi-Fi, charging stations, and a variety of experiential services such as spa treatments and discounts at bars and restaurants. This benefit goes beyond the standard compensation for delayed flights offered through the AirAsia Travel Insurance plans. In addition to receiving monetary reimbursement for flight delays, travelers will now have the opportunity to enjoy a more comfortable and productive waiting experience in a lounge setting.

The announcement comes at a time when travel delays, particularly during peak travel seasons such as school holidays and the year-end, can be stressful for many passengers. Tune Protect emphasized the importance of offering travelers a way to manage the inconvenience of delays, whether they are parents with young children, business travelers needing a quiet space to work, or solo travelers seeking a peaceful place to relax. By providing lounge access, Tune Protect aims to alleviate some of the stress associated with travel delays and enhance the overall travel experience.

To access the Delay Lounge Pass, customers must first purchase an AirAsia Travel Insurance plan (Value Pack, Premium Flex, or AA Plus) when booking their flight. After purchasing the insurance, customers will receive a thank-you email and a second email with a unique code to register for the lounge benefit. Once registered, customers will receive an acknowledgement email confirming that their flight is being tracked by FlightStats. If the flight is delayed by two hours or more, they will automatically receive a digital lounge access voucher upon arrival at the airport, which can be used immediately.

This new initiative reflects Tune Protect’s strategy to offer more than just traditional travel insurance. By combining core insurance products with added experiential benefits, the company hopes to meet the evolving expectations of today’s travelers. In cases where the flight is delayed but the lounge access voucher is not used, the voucher will still be valid for one-time use within 30 days from the date of issuance. The voucher is non-transferable and is uniquely assigned to the registered traveler. Customers purchasing AirAsia Travel Insurance for multiple passengers must ensure that each person is properly registered to ensure a smooth experience at the lounge.

The introduction of the Delay Lounge Pass is part of a wider effort to improve Tune Protect’s travel insurance offerings. In addition to the lounge access, the company has also introduced TravelFlex Lite, a flexible cancellation benefit that reimburses up to RM500 for flight tickets if customers are unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances. Other notable features of the AirAsia Travel Insurance plans include the On-Time Guarantee, which reimburses RM100 for a two-hour delay, and the Baggage Delay benefit, which reimburses RM120 for each six-hour delay, up to a total of RM360.
