London-based consumer tech brand, Nothing, has announced the release of its latest innovation, the Ear (open), marking the company’s entry into the open wearable stereo (OWS) category. The Ear (open) earbuds are engineered to offer users a superior listening experience that balances high-quality sound with situational awareness, setting a new standard for immersive audio.
The highlight of the Ear (open) is Nothing’s Open Sound Technology, designed to keep users engaged with their environment while enjoying premium sound quality. This technology minimizes sound leakage through a Sound Seal System, ensuring privacy while maintaining the ambient sounds around the user, from the subtle rustle of leaves to urban noise. Directional speakers enhance this experience by delivering a balanced soundstage without compromise.
True to Nothing’s signature minimalist design approach, the Ear (open) earbuds feature a slim, transparent build, emphasizing craftsmanship and practicality. At only 8.1 grams per earbud, they are among the lightest in their category, complemented by a compact case measuring just 19 mm in thickness. The portable design is aimed at convenience, making it easy to carry and store without adding bulk.
Comfort has also been prioritized, with a three-point balance system and silicone ear hooks for a secure and adaptable fit. The lightweight build ensures that users can wear the Ear (open) comfortably throughout the day, whether during routine tasks or physical activities like running or cycling.
Sound performance is bolstered by a custom patent-pending diaphragm and titanium coating, which, together with ultra-light drivers, deliver crisp high frequencies and rich bass. The automatic Bass Enhance algorithm further improves low frequencies for a fuller audio experience, while the stepped driver design minimizes distortion, bringing the sound source closer to the ear for a more direct listening experience.
Battery life is another standout feature, with the Ear (open) offering up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge and a total of 30 hours with the charging case. A quick 10-minute charge provides an additional 2 hours of playback, catering to users with busy schedules. The Clear Voice Technology, powered by AI, ensures crisp call quality by filtering out background noise, even in loud environments.
For added convenience, the Ear (open) supports Dual Connection, allowing seamless switching between devices, and Low Lag Mode for optimized gaming experiences with minimal delay. AI integration extends further with ChatGPT, enabling voice-controlled access to real-time information via the Nothing X app, offering users an intelligent, hands-free experience.
Priced at RM659, the Ear (open) will be available through exclusive online channels starting on 28 September 2024. Pre-orders will begin on 1 October 2024 via Shopee, and on 5 October 2024 through Lazada. General sales will commence on 14 October 2024 across all platforms.
