Tune Protect Group Berhad (“Tune Protect” or “Group”) has officially announced the appointment of How Kim Lian (“How”) as its new Group Chief Executive Officer (“GCEO”), effective today.
In his new role, How will focus on expanding Tune Protect’s presence in the lifestyle ecosystem and engaging with key regional players to establish the Group as a leading regional insurance provider in the travel sector. His strategic direction aims to highlight Tune Protect’s comprehensive service offerings, including technology and reinsurance, ensuring a consistent customer experience and a global product portfolio.
Dato’ Mohamed Khadar Bin Merican, Chairman of Tune Protect Group Berhad, expressed his enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, “We are delighted to welcome How as our new GCEO. How joined Tune Protect in 2020 as the Group Chief Financial Officer (“GCFO”). He takes over the GCEO position from Rohit Nambiar, who stepped down in May 2024. During his tenure as GCFO, How managed the Procurement, Legal, and Corporate Secretarial portfolios, alongside his core financial responsibilities. He was instrumental in formulating key financial strategies aligned with the Company’s Corporate Strategy, evaluating financial operational trends, and exploring acquisition and expansion opportunities.

In addition to his role as GCEO, How also serves as a Director in Tune Protect Re Ltd. and Tune Protect Thailand. Before joining Tune Protect, he was the Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer at AirAsia. How brings extensive expertise in Finance Transformation, Programme Management, Enterprise Performance Management, and Investor Relations. He is a member of the Australian Society of CPAs (ASCPA), the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
