Synthesia, a leading British artificial intelligence startup, has announced the launch of Synthesia 2.0, a groundbreaking AI video communications platform designed to transform the video production landscape for businesses. With a suite of innovative features, the platform aims to simplify and scale the creation and distribution of AI-generated videos, making high-quality video content more accessible and efficient for enterprises.
At the core of Synthesia 2.0 are the enhanced AI avatars, now available in two distinct types. Users can create a professional Expressive Avatar using high-definition cameras in a studio, or a custom avatar using a webcam or phone for a more natural setting. These avatars boast improved lip synchronization and natural voice replication in over 30 languages. Synthesia’s latest avatars, powered by the EXPRESS-1 model, can adjust their tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language based on the script, delivering a more lifelike and engaging experience.
Synthesia is also introducing full-body avatars capable of utilizing the entire range of human body language, including hand movements. This advancement promises more dynamic and expressive virtual representations. Synthesia CEO Victor Riparbelli hinted at future developments, stating, “Up until now, avatars have mainly served as assistants in video. With this next generation, they will be able to have personalities and tell captivating stories by using the full range of body language available to humans, including their hands.”
The AI Video Assistant, a key feature of Synthesia 2.0, can convert entire knowledge bases into video libraries, incorporating brand elements such as custom fonts, colors, and logos. This tool addresses the common challenge of “writer’s block” by allowing users to generate video drafts from templates, prompts, or existing documents. Additionally, the new AI Screen Recorder simplifies the process of creating video presentations from screen recordings, automatically aligning voiceovers with screen captures and adding zoom effects to highlight key actions.
Recognizing the global nature of business, Synthesia has upgraded its translation capabilities. Users can now create a single video version and translate it into over 120 languages, with updates to the original video automatically reflecting across all language versions. To complement this, a new dynamic video player is being introduced, capable of offering personalized and interactive experiences, including features like clickable hotspots, embedded forms, and quizzes.
Synthesia has emphasized its commitment to AI safety and responsible development. The company is on track to achieve ISO/IEC 42001 certification, the world’s first standard for AI management. This certification will assure customers of Synthesia’s adherence to ethical and legal obligations while leveraging cutting-edge AI technology.
With Synthesia 2.0, the company aims to bridge the gap between consumer and business video usage, making high-quality video communication an integral part of daily business operations. By reinventing every step of the video production process, Synthesia 2.0 positions itself as a vital tool for businesses looking to enhance their communication strategies and drive real business outcomes.
