A significant majority of geo-distributed businesses are grappling with network problems on a regular basis, according to a recent report by Kaspersky. The report, titled “Managing geographically distributed businesses: challenges and solutions,” found that 59% of these companies experienced network issues related to their multi-site structure at least once a month. The most frequently cited problems were network outages, lost connections, and poor performance of services and applications.
Kaspersky’s findings underscore the complexity and challenges of maintaining robust network security and performance across multiple sites. According to the report, 46% of geo-distributed businesses encountered network problems between one and three times per month, while 13% reported experiencing such issues weekly. In contrast, 40% of businesses faced network problems only a few times per year or not at all.
The most common network challenges reported included network failures or outages, affecting 55% of companies. Additionally, 45% of respondents experienced loss of connectivity and poor performance of services and applications. Other significant issues included inadequate connection capacity, cited by 37% of businesses, and complete or partial network shutdowns, reported by 32%.
To minimize the possibility of network problems, Kaspersky experts recommend the use of dedicated solutions like Kaspersky SD-WAN, which manages the entire corporate network from a single console. This product converges separate communication channels and network functions across companies, making the construction of reliable networks easier and enabling the connection of new branches with a zero-touch experience.
