Unveiling The Latest V3 Chip And Algorithm Technology

vivo-V3 chip

The newly introduced V3 chip boasts cutting-edge features, including a 6nm manufacturing process, a multi-concurrent AI-ISP architecture, and second-generation Frame Info Tunneling (FIT) technology. These enhancements provide users with a superior imaging experience, enabling features like 4K cinema-like bokeh, automatic subject focus detection and switching, cinema-like skin optimization, and cinematic color processing. Notably, vivo has become the first Android phone maker to offer 4K cinema-quality portrait video with post-processing functions.

In addition to the V3 chip, vivo launched the vivo Origin Imaging Engine (VOIE), a comprehensive algorithm matrix solution. VOIE enhances image quality, color, tone, and computing functionality with its three sub-modules: Colour Restoration Engine, Ultra HD Engine, and Accelerated Computing Engine. vivo has also introduced the Hyper-Sense Portrait System and Vast-Sky Night System, tailored for common portrait and night scene scenarios. The company continuously upgrades its algorithm matrix and technological capabilities to ensure exceptional shooting experiences across various scenarios.

Building A Prosperous Image Ecosystem With Joint Innovation

The long-standing partnership between vivo and ZEISS has resulted in groundbreaking innovations for the X series, with ZEISS technologies and iconic optical designs adapted for vivo’s flagships. The joint announcement at the event unveiled a periscope lens design based on the new ‘Vario-Apo-Sonnar’ standards, known for its industry-leading control of chromatic aberration. This APO design has been adapted for the first time to a mobile imaging system, offering high-performance zoom quality.

The T* Coating, ZEISS’s signature technology for anti-reflective coating on optical surfaces, has been integrated into vivo’s X series rear camera system. It significantly reduces unwanted lens flares in challenging lighting conditions such as nighttime and strong backlighting.

vivo has also revealed plans for deep collaborations with MediaTek for the X80 series and with Sony for the development of 2-layer pixel technology and HDR. Furthermore, the company aims to expand joint innovation research with partners like Adobe, Apple, Google, and educational institutes like ETH Zurich, fostering technological breakthroughs and an open mobile imaging ecosystem.

Creating Professional Portraits And The Ultimate Night Scene Experience

vivo’s commitment to providing the ultimate user experience is evident in its advancements in 3D portrait technology and night scene imaging. The company has established a 3D image laboratory equipped with a proprietary cinema-like optical field system to reconstruct delicate 3D models of human faces, producing highly realistic visual effects in virtual environments. This technology allows users to take photos with perfect real and virtual balance and edit photos with texture reconstruction and lighting estimation algorithms.

The Vast-Sky Night System has been upgraded to offer advanced quality solutions for night scenes at all focal lengths. The True Colour Night model, powered by AI learning, enables adaptive tone and color adjustments for night scenes, ensuring excellent results even in high-contrast scenarios.

2023 vivo VISION + Mobile PhotoAwards Winners

During the event, vivo announced the winners of the 2023 VISION + Mobile PhotoAwards. The top award, Best Photograph of the Year, went to Jiehan Herry Saputro for his captivating work ‘Let Me Fly.’ The competition also included awards in six categories: Portrait, Photo Series, Night, Landscape, Motion, and News, along with two special awards: the X90 Series Best Photograph Award and the ZEISS Professional Imaging Award. The VISION + Mobile PhotoAwards program has garnered significant attention since its launch in 2020, receiving nearly one million submissions from over 40 countries and regions, including India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and many others.
