Western-Union-Kiple-money-transfer

Western Union, a global leader in cross-border, cross-currency money movement and payments, and Kiplepay Sdn Bhd (Kiplepay), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Packet Berhad, announce the launch of Western Union money transfers on the Kiple e-wallet mobile application. Western Union is Kiple’s exclusive remittance partner, powering its cross-border money movement capabilities.

According to the companies, Kiple users can now conveniently send and receive money transfers with a few clicks. This partnership will be especially beneficial to businesses, who use Kiple to disburse employees’ salaries, making it convenient for the employee – especially foreign workers – to receive their salary in their e-wallets and send money to their loved ones back home – all in one app.

Foreign students, who have chosen to further their studies in Malaysia, can also use the app to receive money for necessities from their families quickly and seamlessly. This enables students to focus on their education and have a better university experience, rather than being concerned about how and when they will receive much-needed funds.

Western Union’s exclusive money transfer service on the app helps drive Kiple’s strategy to accelerate cashless adoption in the country, it said. With this launch, Kiple’s users now have a single app to manage their e-money, transfers, purchases and remittances with ease, without the need of a bank account. They will have access to all of Kiple’s offerings, which include the Kiple Visa Prepaid Card that can be used worldwide (and also for ATM withdrawals), Kiple’s referral programme and all ongoing promotions and perks.

“Western Union is moving forward with a mindset grounded in collaboration, cooperation and innovation,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Head of Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei & Indochina. “We continue to place a high premium, as we always have done, on connecting people, communities and businesses—so that the global economy creates more opportunities and leads to more inclusive societies. We are excited to have Kiple onboard, guided by our shared passion for connecting people across borders and moving money for a better world.”

Unbanked senders in Malaysia can also walk into any Western Union retail agent location and make a domestic money transfer to themselves in cash, which can be pulled into their Kiple App by simply inputting the unique Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) and other necessary information. Kiple’s users can reload their e-wallet on the app using hard-earned money and seamlessly send money to their loved ones overseas.

“We are excited to partner with a reputable financial services provider such as Western Union to further expand our Kiple ecosystem and move one step closer to providing greater financial assistance digitally to more communities,” said Ricky Liew, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Kiplepay Sdn Bhd. “Through this new offering, we hope to provide greater ease of usage for students, migrant workers, businesses and the general public who want a more reliable way to move their money with just a few taps in our app.”
