Barely one month into 2021, the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is now available in Malaysia and this is my first impression.
As the smallest smartphone among the Galaxy S21 series, it is compact, fits perfectly in my pocket and easy to use in one hand. But don’t be fooled, the Galaxy S21 5G packs plenty of power into its small stature.
Check out the official unboxing video below:
What’s in the box:
- USB Type-C data cable
- Ejection pin
- Quick Start Guide
Samsung decided not to ship the Galaxy S21 5G with a power adapter as most of us have existing chargers at home. With its widely used USB-C type charging port, it is compatible with any existing chargers. You also won’t find any earphones in the box as Samsung is now promoting their new wireless Bluetooth earphones: Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.
I have been using the Galaxy S21 5G for a week now and its been a while since I used a small smartphone that is so compact like this, yet powerful.
Weighting just around 169g, the Galaxy S21 5G sports a fresh new look (especially the camera module), snappy performance, a good camera, 4000mAh battery and a beautiful-smooth 120hz flat display.
The phone has a matte-plastic back but its comfortable to hold and its doesn’t easily attract fingerprint. There’s also 8K video recording, fast under display fingerprint reader, support for 25W fast charging and IP68-rating.
The triple rear camera setup includes a wide angle 12MP Dual Pixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, 12MP ultra-wide shooter (f/2.2), and a 64MP telephoto shooter with OIS support. There is also a 10MP Dual Pixel selfie camera sensor.
The Galaxy S21 5G cost RM3699 in Malaysia for the 256GB storage version and 8GB RAM. It is available now in 4 colours: Phantom Violet, Phantom Grey, Phantom Pink and Phantom White.
Stay tuned for my short review in the next two weeks.
