Hari Raya Aidilfitri is going to be different this year. With the implementation of the new normal, homegrown e-wallet Boost is determined to make sure that the spirit of ‘Raya tetap Raya’ lives on with exciting new features and rewards to help Malaysians celebrate this festive season from the safety and comfort of their homes.

Even though this year many Malaysians are not able to balik kampung due to interstate travel restrictions, with Boost’s new Premium Wallet upgrade, you can still bless your family and friends with e-Duit Raya’ via the ‘Send Money’ function – Duit Raya tetap ada. All you need to do is upgrade your Boost account for free to the new Premium Wallet in two easy steps, opt to select one of our colourful and fun Raya packet designs, include your Hari Raya wish and choose to send either a fixed or random amount.

Starting 18 May 2020, Boost users have two new wallet options – the new Basic and the Premium Wallet. You will be able to celebrate your Hari Raya and fulfill your lifestyle needs with bigger wallet sizes and higher transaction limits. The new Premium Wallet comes with an RM4,999 wallet size which is a more than three-fold increase from the previous RM1,500 limit. Those who have multiple Boost accounts are only allowed to upgrade one account to Premium.

Meanwhile, with the new Basic Wallet you will also enjoy an increased wallet size of RM1,000 from the previous RM200 limit. The monthly spending limit is now increased to RM2,000 which makes for a yearly spending limit of RM24,000. The Basic Wallet, however, does not allow sending of money via P2P transfers, although you can still receive money via P2P.

Boost encourages all users to upgrade their wallets to a Premium Wallet to fully enjoy and take advantage of the benefits and rewards Boost offers. You can upgrade to Premium for free with these simple steps:

  1. Verify your details by taking a picture of your IC and a quick video selfie
  2. Add money to your Boost Wallet with a minimum amount of RM10 at least once

With the Movement Control Order (MCO) and now ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), many users have adopted online shopping to avoid going out into large crowds. While this is a safer way to transact, Boost is pre-empting the possible rise in fraud and scam cases. User safety is Boost’s main priority and to protect users, both the new Basic and Premium wallets do not allow the transfer of e-wallet balances into bank accounts. This is a safety precaution built into the wallet to protect users from fraudsters and scammers who prey on e-wallet users in the past. With this new security measure in place, even if a scammer manages to trick users into revealing their account details, they would not be able to transfer out and steal their victim’s money.

Mohd Khairil Abdullah, CEO of Boost shared that as Raya approaches, it is anticipated that there will be a surge in cashless payments across the country as Malaysians shop for their festive needs.

“In this new normal, Malaysians have embraced the contactless and cashless lifestyle while preparing for one of the most meaningful festive periods of the year. E-wallets have increasingly become a necessity during this outbreak as it is considered a cleaner and safer payment method. The timely introduction of Boost’s larger wallet sizes allows Malaysians to confidently transact, enjoy rewards, cashback and savings while we continue to shop for Raya essentials. We hope to help Malaysians reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread and adjust to the new normal with cashless transactions,” said Khairil.

New Partner Wallet & Rewards:

This Hari Raya, Boost is also introducing its Partner Wallet. The new feature will give you more reason to remain loyal to Boost’s partner brands and merchants that you love by rewarding you with instant cashbacks whenever you spend at these merchants on your next visit. Throughout the Raya period, thirteen big brands, namely Giant, Tesco, The Store, Caring, HelloGold, Watsons, PrestoMall, ZALORA, FAVE, JobbieNut, Potboy, HappyFresh, Alpro Pharmacy and MYDIN will offer Malaysians a host of rewards.

Boost Partner Wallets will be visible after you have earned your cashback for spending at participating merchants and will expire according to the campaign or partner’s terms and conditions. When you have earned cashback from a particular merchant, in the next purchase, the cashback from the respective Partner Wallet will automatically be factored in the total amount before deductions are made from your Boost wallet balance.

“We understand the needs of our users and their preferences when selecting partner outlets to transact at. This way we are rewarding both the Boost Users and Boost Partners in a more impactful and meaningful way,” Khairil explained.

To further make this Raya one to remember and look forward to, Boost has also introduced a new feature called ‘BoostUP Pick & Win’ which gives you the opportunity to convert your Boost Coins for entries to stand a chance at winning amazing prizes. This feature further encapsulates the spirit of joy and giving during this Festive period with interesting prizes include Samsung S20, Google Home and a 43-inch LED Smart TV.

To participate, click the ‘BoostUP Pick & Win’ tile on the Boost app homepage and select gifts based on the amount of Boost Coins required to place an entry. The more entries you place, the more chances of winning! Users can earn more Boost Coins simply by paying with Boost.
