Microsoft’s very own Your Phone app brings Android devices and Windows 10 PCs in sync with all kinds of features, including not only screen mirroring, but also access to the gallery, messaging, and so much more.
But when it comes to the iPhone, the options here are pretty limited, as Microsoft has clearly focused a lot more on Android.
The rescue, however, comes from Dell, whose Mobile Connect app has just received a major update that makes it simply the right choice if you want to pair an iPhone with a Windows 10 device.
Dell Mobile Connect version 3.0, which is now available on Windows 10 (and in the App Store for the companion app that must be installed on an iPhone), brings screen mirroring and file transfer support for Apple smartphones, as well as MMS support for images and videos on Android.
New Dell computer required
Like all good things in life, however, Dell Mobile Connect isn’t an app that is available for everyone. Dell only offers this app to those owning a 2018 or newer Dell system running Windows 10, so you can’t use it on a computer from another brand.
Furthermore, you must be running at least iOS 11 on your iPhone to be able to install the new version of the app.
Meanwhile, Microsoft hasn’t shared too many details regarding its plans for iPhones in the Your Phone app. Of course, it’s a lot harder to offer the same features as for an Android phone given Apple’s walled garden, but now that Dell has proved it’s possible, Microsoft should really begin focusing on developing the same capabilities in the Your Phone app as well.
It remains to be seen when and if this happens, but for iPhone users, Dell Mobile Connect might serve as another incentive to purchase a Dell computer.
