Users Start Petition Against “Slower” Samsung Galaxy Phones with Exynos Chips

Samsung is currently selling two different versions of its Galaxy phones, all depending on the market.

The models available in the United States and a very limited series of other markets come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, whereas the ones sold in international markets, including Europe, are powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos chip.

Despite the South Korean company claiming the performance of the Exynos chip is on par with the one of the Snapdragon sibling, tests have shown this isn’t necessarily accurate, as a Qualcomm-powered Galaxy phone is very often faster and benefit from improved battery life.

Samsung users have now started a petition to call for Samsung to “stop selling us inferior Exynos phones,” pointing out that the South Korean firm should use the Qualcomm chip on all devices sold across the world regardless of the market.

“Phones with Exynos SoC chips are shown to perform slower, have less battery life, use inferior camera sensors and processing, overheat and throttle faster, amongst other issues,” the petition reads.

“At the very least, we would appreciate if Samsung were transparent about their inconsistencies. Alternatively, for Samsung to ensure we weren’t paying the exact same price or even higher than our US friends.

Over 11,000 people signed the petition

At the time of writing, there are over 11,200 people who signed the petition, less than three days after it was published online. Most likely, the number of supporters will continue to grow, despite the chances of seeing Samsung expanding the availability of the Snapdragon version to more markets being rather slim.

“We have had to accept this over many years over different iterations of the flagship phones. Every year we have hoped for Samsung to either give us the same device, or make their own parts perform on par with the competition. They have failed to deliver on these requests over and over again and the performance gap only seems to widen over time,” the petition reads.

We have reached out to Samsung for a word on this petition and will update the article when an answer is offered.
