A blank space that makes absolutely no sense in the iPhone status bar, even on the latest iOS version, is driving some people, including myself, crazy. And once you see it you really can’t unsee it.
Design mishaps aren’t necessarily surprising, and they also exist in Apple products, despite the attention that the Cupertino-based tech giant actually puts into getting even the smallest detail right.
In this case, however, the problem appears to be related to the language or region that is configured on the device, albeit for now, no confirmation exists on this and it’s just a guess on my side.
Bug showing up regardless of iPhone model
But according to this thread on reddit, the blank space between the battery level and the “%” symbol shows up regardless of iPhone models or iOS version – it has already been confirmed on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and iPhone 7.
An iPhone SE and an iPhone X here at Softpedia come with the same blank space in the status bar as pictured here.
Users in the linked thread confirm the space is there in iOS 13.3. While some say English isn’t affected, others claim it is, and I can confirm that English with the US set as region indeed displays the bug.
Of course, there’s not much you can do about this small bug, and it obviously doesn’t affect the performance of the iPhone in any way. However, given Apple’s obsession to get everything right, I expect the company to fix it with the next iOS release, although for now, it’s pretty clear this isn’t a priority. Many people didn’t even notice the blank space until now, and there’s a chance they’ll never know it exists unless someone else tells them.
No ETA currently exists for the next iOS update, but a new version is likely to land this month.
