PIKOM Unicorn Tech Awards Night 2019

PIKOM, the National Tech Association Of Malaysia, announced that its PIKOM Unicorn Tech Awards Night 2019 will be recognising eight (8) industry changemakers on 3rd October 2019 at the KL Convention Centre.

The awards, held for the first time in collaboration with APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Awards) and the GBS (Global Business Services) Awards, will see more than 1,000 tech players celebrating each other at the most sought-after event of the country’s digital industry.

“Every year, our tables are sold-out and we have had to acquire a bigger venue due to the overwhelming response by our members. This is the night where our members come together to celebrate the award winners and toast them on their successes,” says Ganesh Kumar Bangah at a Press Conference.

This is the 31st year PIKOM is hosting the awards and the first time to include GBS. PIKOM would announce the following category nominations to all members months before the awards night for them to nominate who they think is most deserving:

  1. ICT Organisation Excellence Award
  2. Member Excellence Award
  3. CIO Excellence Award
  4. Technopreneur Excellence Award
  5. ICT Personality of the Year
  6. GBS Company of the Year
  7. Regional ICT Company of the Year
  8. Special Recognition Awards

“Echoing what the Chairman has mentioned, the awards night gets bigger and bigger every year. We decided to include GBS to reflect synergy in collaboration with our partners. Recognising all the champions on one prominent platform is a practical approach, instead of having them done separately,” says Sean Seah, PIKOM Secretary and also Organising Chair of the awards night.

This year, leading company in the oil-and-gas industry, Serba Dinamik has come forward to position itself as the Title Sponsor of the event.

Added Ganesh, “Serba Dinamik values the recognition presented by PIKOM, especially seeing the growth and transformation PIKOM has gone through over the years from a cash & carry association to the true voice of the tech industry.”

Dato’ Dr. Ir. Mohd Abdul Karim Bin Abdullah, Group CEO of Serba Dinamik affirmed this. “Over the past few years, PIKOM has been playing the changemaker role itself, becoming the advocate and voice for their members. We can definitely resonate with the association and we hope this relationship will spur higher growth for the industry.”

“We have close relations with the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and its governments agencies, too. In fact, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo will be gracing the PIKOM Unicorn Tech Awards Night this year,” added Ganesh.

Also present at the press conference were eminent council members who carry the torch for all members in working together with the government to spearhead the tech industry.
