Yoodo PMNC Finals 2019

Yoodo, Malaysia’s first fully customisable and 100% digital mobile is rapidly making their name in the gaming segment, it claims. 2018 was a successful year for Yoodo in partnerships, where they were once again the Official Digital Telco for the Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) 2019.

Organised by Tencent Games, the gaming giant attracted 384 teams with over 1,500 individuals participating across Malaysia for the PMNC National finals. At its climax, 16 teams reached the exciting finals to battle it out for a shot at a prize pool of RM 114,000!

At the end of the grand finals, ViP Squad – Victorious in Play emerged as the champions of PMNC 2019. The team walked away with a cash prize of RM 40,000 as well as free mobile plans for a year from Yoodo. Mobile gaming has gone mainstream and is forecasted to grow at an annual rate of 25% reported by Newzoo.

Reinforcing its unwavering commitment to gamers, Yoodo has extended the free promo period for its PUBG MOBILE data add-on. This promo gives users 20GB of dedicated data for the popular game and is now free until the end of December 2019. “Now gamers can continue playing PUBG MOBILE at ease on Malaysia’s widest 4G LTE network without worrying about data charges,” added Tuck Mun.

“Mobile gamers look for telcos with fast, reliable and competitively priced broadband,” shared Chow Tuck Mun, Head of Yoodo. “We want gamers to know that we speak their language when it comes to mobile gaming. We’re ready to take their gaming experience to the next level.”

No stranger to the Malaysian e-sports scene, Yoodo sponsored the last PMNC tournament and rewarded the winners with one-year free mobile plans. To conclude the season, Yoodo signed on the champions becoming the first telco to unveil their own e-sports team Yoodo Gank. They have just added their newest member, Raymond Tan Boon Sheng aka iSHOTz.

“Our goal as a company is to empower Malaysians to showcase their talents in not only e-sports but also in active sports, entertainment and tech segments,” shared Tuck Mun. “Sponsoring PMNC last year was a truly rewarding experience, being able to shine the spotlight on Malaysia’s growing e-sports talents. This is why we were quick to step up to the opportunity of sponsoring PMNC again this year.”

This is part of the telco’s direction to nurture and uplift Malaysian talent not just in e-sports but also in sports, entertainment and tech. Yoodo Presents, Malaysia’s first interactive online concert series to showcase local indie bands is one such initiative. Additionally, Yoodo also recently inked a sponsorship deal for the country’s new Malaysian Premier Futsal League 2019 organized by the Football Association of Malaysia. The sponsorship will help boost awareness and fan engagement for the new Futsal league.
