Celcom Axiata Berhad sparks the spirit of sharing and volunteerism further in the month of Ramadan, as children and senior citizens shared ‘Buka Puasa’ sessions together with Celcom employees recently.

On 23 May, over 20 Celcom employees visited Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Zakat Selangor, Bait Al-Mawaddah to share the love and joy with the home’s senior citizens.  The few hours spent with the senior citizens were golden as they enjoyed each interaction, nurturing kinship, and shared their stories with tears and laughter as well as the sharing of delicious treats by the team. The occupants of Bait Al-Mawaddah were also delighted to receive their bags of goodies which included much needed personal care items and snacks.

In a separate occasion, on 27 May 2019, Celcom held another ‘buka puasa’ session at Celcom’s corporate office, @celcom, with 95 children from two orphanages namely, Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kesayangan (RUKESA), Rumah Amal Permata Hatiku, and also from a Tahfiz school, Maahad Tahfiz al-Falahiyyah. The children were also treated with ‘duit raya’ from Celcom senior leaders, including Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer and Jennifer Wong, Chief Financial Officer.

The children were also surprised with Celcom’s workplace environment that is complemented with a fun-filled ambience. They enjoyed the tour around @celcom and took the opportunity to have fun at the office’s play areas that are equipped with basketball hoops, air hockey, and foosball tables.

The joyful occasion with the children ended with a Tarawikh prayer, and before bidding their goodbyes with beautiful smiles, each child was provided with a goodie bag that contained snacks and food for their ‘sahur’.

Both events were initiated by Celcom’s Active Culture Transformation Team, a cross-functional team, consisting of employees from various departments. The team is part of Celcom’s effort to build a vibrant, fun and engaging work environment for all employees, and encourage practices for the most optimal, productive and rewarding results.
