Digi kicks off Raja Futsal, grand prize of RM100,000

Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“Digi”) and partners invite Malaysians aged 18 to 30 to participate in the Raja Futsal tournament launched today and get a chance to battle their way to winning RM100,000 cash, the nation’s largest grand prize offered for a futsal game to date.

Building on the buzz around the ongoing international football season, Digi’s Raja Futsal tournament will enable futsal fans to move from the couch to the court as they battle it out in nationwide state qualifying rounds between July and October, before culminating in a Grand Finals to be held in Klang Valley in November.

Over the course of these 4 months, 64 teams from each 13 states and Wilayah Persekutuan are expected to battle their way through state level qualifiers with the top four teams receiving cash prizes together with medals and merchandise. The top 2 teams from each state will head to the Grand Finals where the stakes will be raised significantly. The Grand Finals’ top four teams will receive cash prizes of RM100,000, RM20,000 and RM2,500 (2 teams for 3rd position) respectively along with medals and merchandise.

Loh Keh Jiat, Digi’s Chief Marketing Officer said, “As a digital service provider with the largest subscriber base in Malaysia, it is critical for Digi to continue to be connected and constantly be relevant to our customers. As we all know, sports is a unifying force that brings Malaysians together and what better way than to bring futsal, a popular sport amongst Malaysian youth and adults alike, for them to show their skills to the nation and walk away with amazing prizes.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all partners who are all committed in ensuring this inaugural Raja Futsal tournament is a success. This is a good example of how Digi partners with other industries to connect our customers to what matters most to them,” he added.

The Raja Futsal Grand Finals will take place with a carnival atmosphere with non-stop fun and on-ground activities for the public.
