11 students received the Anugerah Gemilang eKelas for showing grade improvement in three subjects under Maxis eKelas programme. The recipients received RM1,200 cash contribution deposited to their National Education Savings Scheme (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional 1Malaysia) and school starter pack in a ceremony held at Menara Maxis today.

Maxis eKelas is an after-school digital learning initiative that aims to improve the academic performance of students in rural and urban communities. Launched in November last year, the portal gives students access to a cloud-based resource of learning content, enabling them to study at their own pace, take charge of their learning and at the same time discover how to learn collaboratively.

Focusing on three subjects – Science, Mathematics and English the programme are catered for Form 1, 2 and 3 students. eKelas offers a combination of live tutorials, group learning and interactive digital content which is in line with the Malaysian School Syllabus delivered at PI1Ms. Owned by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), PI1M is an Internet centre located in underserved areas to provide access to communications to surrounding communities with currently more than 4,000 students interacting within the eKelas portal.
