A few months ago, Maxis made a statement saying “Our flagship MaxisONE Plan has now surpassed 2 million subscribers,” as of December 2017,  “contributing a high monthly ARPU of RM117.”

But that’s not true, did Maxis lie?

MaxisONE plan only crossed 2 million subscribers, as of March 2018.

MaxisONE Plan subscriber Base as of December 2017:

4Q16- 1,656 million
1Q17- 1,788 million
2Q17- 1,889 million
3Q17- 1,946 million
4Q17- 2,026 million

“Adjusted” MaxisONE Plan subscriber Base as of April 2018:

1Q17- 1,738 million
2Q17- 1,830 million
3Q17- 1,877 million
4Q17- 1,950 million
1Q18- 2,021 million

Maxis said “MOP subscription adjusted to exclude a business rate plan that no longer satisfies the MOP criteria”.

If a single “business rate plan that no longer satisfies the MOP criteria” is ONLY HAPPENING NOW, why does it affect the entire subscriber base going back to January 2017?

Its unclear which MaxisONE Business plan was removed from the MaxisONE plan subscriber base, or if there was really such a thing. What mistake did Maxis really make?

For the latest quarter, it was unusual for Maxis not to brag about its MaxisONE Plan ARPU. Why so shy la?

The only thing the Telco talked about ONE plan was adding 283k new “high-value subscribers”. What it didn’t mention was that it lost 224k postpaid customers during the same period. Go figure.

What other numbers might change a year from now? Maybe Maxis included Hotlink Postpaid Flex numbers into Prepaid. Who knows?
