IDC’s prestigious DXa recognizes organizations that have significantly disrupted the market or have transformed it, using digital and disruptive technologies.

Grab and Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad are also recognized as the winners for “Digital Disruptor of the Year” and the “DX Leader-Omni-Experience Innovation” categories respectively. These winners successfully distinguished themselves for their discernible and measurable excellence in their digital transformation (DX) efforts across the three DX masteries and significant efforts to transform or disrupt the market, IDC said.

“The organizations in Malaysia are rapidly adapting digital transformation (DX) to stay competitive in the global market. In Malaysia, the most progressive organizations that possess a strong digital mindset have disrupted the landscape, as consumers become increasingly tech-savvy in the face of borderless competition. Our winners for Malaysia have shown that DX is no longer just a buzzword, but a must. Our research shows that more than 90% of enterprises in Malaysia now recognize the importance of digital transformation in transitioning to the new digital economy. Moreover, almost a quarter of the companies are now actively working on digital transformation strategies and projects in Malaysia, based on our latest research,” says Pranabesh Nath, Research Director, IDC Malaysia.

Nath added, “These research results indicate the awareness and adoption of emerging technologies that enable disruptive business models, new revenue streams and operating models is increasingly at an impressive rate.”

The Malaysia winning organizations of the 2017 IDC DX Awards and their outstanding DX initiatives that distinguished them are:

  • Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad named the Digital Transformer of the Year: The Astro Digital Transformation Programme aimed at transforming Astro into a customer centric, digital, cloud and mobile-first, analytics driven organization.
  • Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad named the DX Leader-Omni-Experience Innovation: Alliance’s Cash2Home, a first-in-Malaysia mobile foreign remittance solution uses new technologies to increase customer experience and generate additional revenue
  • Grab named the Digital Disruptor of the Year for the carpooling and ride hailing app that has disrupted the transportation sector

“IDC believes this is the right time to recognize the digital trailblazers across the region for their great achievement in their digital transformation journey especially in current developing economies. We look forward to seeing more cutting-edge transformers and disruptive projects in the year ahead,” said Sudev Bangah, Managing Director IDC ASEAN.

The Malaysia IDC DX Awards winners were selected through three rounds of panel judging and scoring on IDC’s DX MaturityScape Benchmark Assessment. In enforcing the highest level of transparency and impartiality in the evaluation process, each submission was reviewed and deliberated on by IDC Asia/Pacific senior executives.

Winners from all around Asia Pacific will join the Malaysia winners at IDC’s DX Summit and Digital Transformation Awards (DXa) Gala Night, where the regional winners will be announced for the categories of Digital Transformer of the Year; Digital Disruptor of the Year; DX Leader – L3D Mastery; DX Leader – Information Visionary; DX Leader – Omni-experience Innovation; DX Leader – Operational Transformation; and DX Leader – Talent Acceleration. The regional awards will happen on 28th November 2017 at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.
