As Samsung continues to be roiled by the fallout from its exploding Galaxy Note7, the conventional wisdom is that this is a golden opportunity for rival Apple.
With the company just rolling out the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus last month following a year of declining sales, the absence of this competitive product in the marketplace and the negative impact on Samsung’s brand and reputation should be help Apple. Or so the conventional wisdom goes.
But it turns out Apple itself is not really in position to take advantage of those problems. In its earnings call yesterday, Apple executives explained that the company remained heavily supply constrained on the two new phones. That is, they can’t make enough to meet demand.
