HotelQuickly, a leading last-minute hotel booking app announced its entry into Japan through the acquisition of domestic booking app, Tonight.
HotelQuickly, which offers mobile-only discounts on rooms within a seven-day booking window, has garnered more than 2 million downloads since its launch in March 2013. More than 12,000 hotels and resorts have partnered with the app to sell their room inventory to last-minute travellers.
With the acquisition of Tonight, HotelQuickly adds its 16th country and another 400 hotels to its roster. Executives at HotelQuickly said moving into Japan was a logical next step and would open new possibilities for travelers within the region.
“Japan is on top of the list of countries our users would like to see this year, and we’re now perfectly positioned to help them do that,” said Tomas Laboutka, Co-founder and CEO of HotelQuickly. “With flights more affordable than ever, visas requirements lighter than ever, plus the unbeatable hotel deals you’ll find on HotelQuickly, there’s never been a better time to visit Japan.”
Over the past three years, HotelQuickly’s has expanded rapidly to offer its members hotel deals in 300 Asia-Pacific destinations. The app’s founding team consists of seasoned entrepreneurs, a few of whom previously held senior management positions at Rocket Internet.
Among the moves HotelQuickly is making in preparation for entry into its 16th country is a full translation of the app into Japanese. “The integration of Tonight will take place over several weeks,” said Tomas Laboutka. “We’ve already opened deals at hotels in selected Japanese destinations, and will soon make our regional, last-minute hotel offers available to our Japanese users.”
HotelQuickly is now supported in nine languages and is free to download on Google Play and iTunes App Store.
