F-Secure unveils Freedome for Mac VPN service

F-Secure released a new version of its Freedome VPN(Virtual Private Network) application for Mac users. The new version, called Freedome for Mac, was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona (Spain) on March 1. The new Freedome offering will bring the popular VPN to computers running Apple’s OS X software the second quarter of 2015.

The online security vendor said that Freedome is a user-friendly VPN that helps people protect themselves against unwanted digital surveillance. By giving people a one-button tool to identify malware, disable unauthorized tracking and change their virtual location in order to access their favorite content while browsing, they can enjoy their digital freedom without risking their privacy or leaving digital footprints to follow.

“People are being forced to give up more and more of their personal data in order to access many of the services offered online”, says Samu Konttinen, Executive Vice President, Consumer Security at F-Secure. “People might be more aware of this today than they have been in the past, but they’re still concerned because they’re constantly required to sacrifice control over their privacy if they want to enjoy their online experience.”

Konttinen expects the new offering to be a hit with users based on the positive reception its interface has received on other platforms. “Freedome’s one-button interface gives users a simple tool to help them enjoy being online. It’s an elegant solution that addresses people’s privacy concerns, and we’re now happy to offer Freedome’s premium online experience to more users”.

Freedome is now available for Android, iOS and Windows PC users, but Freedome for Mac will extend this support to include devices running Apple’s OS X. The Freedome VPN service is available in a number of countries worldwide including Malaysia.

At the point of writing, a 12-months F-Secure Freedome for 1 device cost RM129.17, 3 device at RM161.57 and 5 device at RM193.97.

The Windows PC, iOS and Android versions of Freedome are currently available for a free 14-day trial download from the F-Secure website. The company said the Freedome VPN servers are located in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia.
