Fortinet announced that it has appointed a new country manager in Malaysia. Industry veteran Michelle Ong will now oversee Fortinet Malaysia’s overall operations and take responsibility for developing and growing the vendor’s business in the country.
Fortinet Malaysia New Country Manager, Michelle OngOng assumes the reins from Dato’ Seri George Chang, who will relinquish his acting country manager position to focus on his role as Fortinet’s Vice President for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
As head of sales for channel and government accounts in Malaysia for the past two years, Fortinet said that Ong has steadily developed Fortinet’s traction in these sectors while effectively managing clients, partners and the internal team.
“Ong has left no doubt about her ability to lead and grow a highly experienced team,” said Dato’ Seri George Chang. “I am confident that under her stewardship, Fortinet will continue to thrive and make inroads into the high-end enterprise, government, financial services and service provider sectors, gaining market share and picking up awards along the way.”
Just last month, Fortinet won the Frost & Sullivan Malaysian Network Security Vendor of the Year award for its market share leadership, product innovation and consistent efforts in meeting customer needs.
Ong has held senior sales, marketing and account management roles in technology companies including McAfee, ACA Pacific Technology and MGE Asia. She is well-versed in both vendor and channel business dynamics, and has a track record of success in motivating teams and helping customers attain their business objectives.
“The Malaysian market is expanding rapidly and the opportunity to help enterprises meet their security needs with Fortinet’s trusted, end-to-end portfolio has never been greater,” said Ong. “I am excited to be leading the team at this time and look forward to making a positive impact on our customers’ businesses throughout the country.”
