The Tesco online Grocery Home Shopping (GHS) service which was introduced in March at the Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara, catering to customers within 20km radius of the store, is now open to all customers in the greater Klang Valley area.

More than 5 million households in the Klang Valley will be able to experience online shopping and have their orders delivered directly to their homes. The online GHS service offers customers 15,000 lines of fresh and frozen food, groceries and non-food items such as health and beauty, baby needs and basic household items.

“Following the soft launch in April, we have received tremendous support from customers within the Petaling Jaya, Mont Kiara, Sri Hartamas, Bangsar, Kepong, Sungai Buloh and Segambut. Now with the launch of the service throughout Klang Valley, we’ve received more than 100 orders per day. Our customers have expressed just how much they’ve enjoyed the service and the convenience it brings. I believe there’s tremendous potential in further growing this service that we are offering,” explained Georg Fischer, Tesco Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer.

“We understand more and more Malaysians are shopping online via their computers or their smart phones. At Tesco, we are committed to meet the modern lifestyle and demands of our Malaysian customers. By offering greater convenience to help Malaysians in the hectic urban, we are also helping our customers save time,” said Fischer.

Tesco trains ‘personal shoppers’ to select only the best products for customers. The ‘personal shoppers’ will seek out the freshest produce and longest expiry dates. The drivers are also trained to use the best possible route to special compartments for frozen products, chilled products and non-perishable groceries. Personal shoppers select fresh food products on the morning of the day of delivery to ensure that goods are as fresh as possible.

Product prices and promotions on the Tesco GHS are the same as in stores. Clubcard holders can still earn Clubcard points using the online service as they do when shopping in stores. There is no minimum order, only a RM10 service charge per transaction.

Orders that are made online will can be delivered the following day, all payments are by credit or debit cards.

“At Tesco, we are constantly looking at ways to improve and on how to serve our customers better. Ultimately, we are here to make what matters better, together for all Malaysians. Following great feedback from our current online customers, we believe more customers in the Klang Valley will appreciate this online GHS service. We are ready to serve. We are also looking into launching this service to other areas outside of Klang Valley soon,” said Fischer.

To mark the launch of Tesco’s Grocery Online Shopping, 12 lucky shoppers who shopped online with Tesco between the 11th and 17th June were given a chance to play the role of ‘personal shopper’ and take up the challenge in the ‘Pick & Win’ Contest! during the launch of the GHS at Tesco Extra Cheras.

The winner of the Grand Prize received a year of grocery worth RM12,000 in total, the second prize was RM9,000 worth of GHS vouchers, whilst the third prize winner walked away with RM5,000 worth of GHS vouchers. Tesco also gave away RM500 GHS vouchers to a consolation prize winner.
