YouTube, the world most popular video sharing site now has a billion users every month.
In a blog post, the Google-owned Youtube said that the growth is driven by Gen C (defined by the Internet, mobile, and social – consuming content when and where they want) and mobile devices.
In January this year, Youtube reported 4 billion streams a day. According to the company, roughly 60 hours of video is now uploaded to YouTube every minute, compared with the 48 hours of video uploaded per minute in May last year.
Youtube was launched in 2005 and acquired by Google in 2006 for $1.76bn. At that time, Youtube has an estimated 30-40million users worldwide.
