1Malaysia TV was launched in December 2011 by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak however the service appears to be dead or not working in the way that it is supposed to be.
First the service launched with 11 channels however there are currently only 8 channels, claims to be working. However, the truth is some of the channels does not stream anything or the stream stops after a couple of minutes.
While TV3 appears to be missing since April/May this year without any notice, channels like TV1, TV2 and BernamaTV continues to display errors after a couple minutes of stream(Stream not found, null). Check out the screenshot below:
According to the news report, 1Malaysia TV is run by 1Media IPTV Sdn Bhd and National Film Development Corporation chairman Datuk Afendi Hamdan, is the adviser, however based on our experience, there seem to be no one managing the website or the streaming service. The Facebook page of 1Malaysia TV also have not been updated for months.
1Malaysia TV appears to be hosted at AIMS data centers in KL. We believe that the company does not have enough bandwidth to cater the huge number of people streaming the service, thus the poor experience. On top of that, 1Media IPTV should also look at the video resolution(ratio) as it does not fit the screen monitor when each channel is viewed in full screen.
We also noticed some complaints on the 1Malaysia TV mobile app however the company behind it, eRamaTV appears to be responding to users despite some TV channels including TV3 and BernamaTV have gone missing. The mobile app does not seem to work using U Mobile data service.
While the service continues to display errors for the past few month, it is embarrassing for the Malaysian Government to launch a service that does not work a few months later.
“With today’s technology, the public is able to receive news and information in the blink of an eye. Sometimes, even before a meeting ends, people already receive the news,” said Najib.
Well Prime Minister, I have blinked my eyes a couple of times, but 1MalaysiaTV is DOA(Dead on Arrival).
RTM has already started streaming TV1 and TV2 on their website for sometime now despite there’s still some improvements to be done. As for Media Prima channels(TV3, NTV7, 8TV & TV9), we heard that online live TV is coming soon. Stay tune.
