Oracle Corporation, a leading supplier of software for information management, today announces that the company is being recognized as the No. 1 in worldwide Application Server Software revenues for 2011 with a 38.3% market share, according to a latest report from IDC.

The IDC’s Vendor Shares Report examines the application server middleware and application platform-as-a-service (ASMAP) market for 2008–2011. Total eleven vendors’ revenue and market share are provided for 2011.

The study also includes details about the ASMAP segments, including application server software platforms and transaction processing monitors as well as application PaaS.

With a growth rate of 11.7%, Oracle continues to lead the Application Server Software Platform category in 2011. In terms of regions, APAC was the fastest growing region for Oracle, with a growth rate of over 18%, Americas (including LAD) is at 11.0% and EMEA’s growth is 9.5%.

According to the report, Oracle also outranked the competition by achieving over 9 points greater market share than the closest competitor.
